Building a fabulous wardrobe – THE ESSENTIALS (Part 3)

When it comes to the shirtdress I am a huge fan. The often forgotten shirtdress is a hugely versatile piece to have in your fabulous wardrobe. It’s incredibly flattering for all body shapes and can be dressed up or down depending on your needs.

Not one to be smug, the shirtdress is useful on occasions you didn’t even know you needed in your life, as well as those you know you do!  Pimms o’clock? – got it covered. Daytime shopping with the girls – it’s there. Picking up the kids from school- totally on it. Work meeting with a client – say no more. Wafting around being fabulous – easy peasy.

The shirtdress should be the first thing you reach for when you wake up in the morning, before you even drink your coffee. Nuff said.

Classic SHIRT

This button-fronted dress, typically cut without a seam at the waist, and worn with a belt, has a looser fit and more forgiving style. Typically worn in cotton or silk it can be belted at the waist or slung more casually at the hips.

Muted colours work well in the day with a leather belt and large handbag.

For an evening luxe look wear in bright colours or prints with bold jewelry and bling sandals.

Worn long and lean the luxe maxi shirt dress is glamorous, sexy and forgiving all rolled into one (who needs more I hear you cry).

Bling it up with statement jewelry to get that “I just threw on this little number and yet looked amaaazing”, evening vibe. Super easy and super chic you will turn heads in bold colours and bold prints.

Swing skirt SHIRT

For another shirt look entirelythere is always the fuller swing style shirt dress. These are more structured and fitted with a 50s style look to them. Again very versatile these can be dressed up with heels and a statement necklace for the evening or played down with flats and a cardigan for a daytime role.

The shirtdress – without doubt we should all own one of these gems. Being fabulous was never easier.
